Hawks, Bruins Swap Top AHL Point Scorers, David Working Back from Injury

The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced Thursday that the National Hockely League club has acquired center Pascal Pelletier from the Boston Bruins in exchange for center Martin St. Pierre.

Pelletier, 25, made his National Hockey League debut last season with the Bruins and was held scoreless in six games. The Labrador City, New Foundland, native spent the majority of last year in the American Hockey League where he led the Providence Bruins with a career-high 37 goals and a career-best 75 points in 73 regular-season contests. He also dished out a career-most 38 assists before leading Providence with 12 points in 10 playoff contests.

Bruins get F St. Pierre in trade from Blackhawks

BOSTON (AP) -The Boston Bruins have swapped forwards with the Chicago Blackhawks, getting Martin St. Pierre in exchange for Pascal Pelletier.

The trade was announced Thursday.

St. Pierre played five games with the Blackhawks last season and spent the most time with Chicago’s AHL affiliate Rockford. He led the team in scoring, finishing with 21 goals and 67 assists in 69 games.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said St. Pierre will provide depth at the center position.

Alex Radulov one of six players suspended from international play by IIHF

ZURICH - Alex Radulov isn’t going anywhere for the time being.

He’s one of six players having his contract investigated by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Radulov signed with the Russian team Ufa last week even though he has one year remaining on his deal with the NHL’s Nashville Predators.

Nikita Filatov, Viktor Tikhonov, Jason Krog, Tomas Mojzis and Fedor Fedorov are also having contracts examined regarding transfers to or from Russia.

Radulov one of six players suspended from international play by IIHF

Nashville Predators forward Alex Radulov was one of six players whose new contracts were suspended by hockey’s international governing body on Friday until the legality of the deals could be investigated.

Radulov, under contract for another season with the Predators, signed a contract with a Russian team in the new Continental Hockey League (KHL). That deal seemingly would be in breach of a pact agreed to July 10 between the KHL, the NHL, the NHL Players’ Association, and international hockey leagues in which contracts worldwide would be honoured and respected.

Penguins Acquire Richmond from Chicago

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired the rights to defenseman Danny Richmond from the Chicago Blackhawks for the rights to center Tim Brent, it was announced on Thursday by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Richmond, 23, split last season between the Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs (AHL). He was scoreless in seven games with Chicago, and recorded 14 points (2+12) and 156 penalty minutes in 40 games with Rockford.

Penguins acquire D Danny Richmond from Chicago for F Tim Brent

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired the rights to defenceman Danny Richmond in exchange for the rights to Tim Brent on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Richmond appeared in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. He had two goals and 12 assists in 40 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. The Chicago native was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 draft.

Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire Conditional Draft Pick from Anaheim Ducks in Exchange for Forward Joak

Syracuse, NY (July 15, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a conditional draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Joakim Lindstrom.

Lindstrom, 24, appeared in 49 games with the Crunch last season and led the team in scoring, collecting 25 goals, 35 assists and 68 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 25 games with Columbus last year, registering 3 goals, 4 assists and 14 penalty minutes.

Leafs acquire Ryan Hollweg from Rangers

TORONTO (AP) -The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Ryan Hollweg from the New York Rangers for a 2009 fifth-round draft pick on Monday.

The 25-year-old Hollweg had two goals and two assists and 96 penalty minutes in 70 games for the Rangers.

He has five goals and seven assists in 200 career NHL games, all with the Rangers.

He was New York’s eighth-round choice, 238th overall, in the 2001 draft.

Sharks grab D Dan Boyle from Lightning for Carle

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -The San Jose Sharks acquired standout defenseman Dan Boyle from Tampa Bay on Friday, trading defenseman Matt Carle and top prospect Ty Wishart to the Lightning to acquire their second proven NHL defensive star in two days.

The Sharks, who received journeyman defenseman Brad Lukowich in the deal, also gave up a first-round pick in 2009 and a fourth-round choice in 2010. San Jose then made room for its new defensive talent by trading veteran defenseman Craig Rivet to Buffalo for two second-round draft picks.

Lightning Acquire Matt Carle, Ty Wishart from San Jose

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired defensemen Matt Carle and Ty Wishart along with San Jose’s first-round pick in 2009 and its fourth-round pick in 2010 in exchange for defensemen Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich today, owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie announced. “We are thrilled to add a player with Matt’s abilities to our roster as we continue our plan of retooling and refinishing the Lightning team,” said Vice President of Hockey Operations Brian Lawton. “He quarterbacked the number one power play unit in the NHL two seasons ago as a rookie and he clearly will add speed and skill to our lineup. He fits with our plan of trying to getting younger and better.”
