Aeros unveil 15th anniversary logo and marketing campaign

HOUSTON, Texas - The American Hockey League’s (AHL) Houston Aeros unveiled their 15th Anniversary logo today.

The 15th Anniversary logo features the original Aeros bomber flying over the skyline of downtown Houston. Etched in the downtown skyline are the roman numerals XV symbolizing the 15-year run of hockey in Houston starting in 1994. All of this is encompassed by a circle with the text “Celebrating 15 Years; Houston Aeros Hockey.” In keeping consistent with the Aeros current logo and identity, the 15th Anniversary logo consists of the primary Aeros’ green color, along with white, red, grey and black.

Aeros release 2008-09 schedule

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), have announced their 2008-09 regular season schedule. The Aeros will open up their 15th anniversary season on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Toyota Center at 7:35 p.m. against the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves.

The Aeros’ 40-game home schedule is highlighted by 28 weekend dates, and 20 different teams will visit Houston this season, the most in team history. The schedule features 7:05 p.m. game times Monday-Thursday, 7:35 p.m. starts Friday and Saturday and 4:05 p.m. Sunday start times for seven of the nine Sunday games. Two Sunday games (November 23, January 18) will begin at 5:05 p.m..

Houston Aeros partner with STAR Skaters for event this Saturday

HOUSTON, Texas - STAR Skaters and the Houston Aeros have partnered up for a family FUNraiser this Saturday, August 2 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Willowbrook Aerodrome. The event is fun for the family and supports children with disabilities. A raffle with great prizes will also be held immediately following the skating session. Sled Hockey will conclude the event so patrons can see the benefits of the FUNraiser.

STAR Skaters mission is to provide an on-ice skating experience for therapy and recreation for children and young adults with any type of physical or developmental disability. The program is open to anyone five years of age or older who would normally be unable to enjoy an on-ice skating experience due to their disability.

Aeros season tickets now on sale online

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that season tickets can now be purchased online. All of the packages include a discount off of the gate price and plans start at just $120.

Full-season packages, 25-game, 15-game and 10-ticket Voucher Book plans can all be purchased online. The purchaser will be contacted by an Aeros representative within 48 hours of purchase to go over the details of the package and to select exact seat locations. Houston Aeros seek National Anthem singers for 2008-09 season

HOUSTON, Texas - The 2008-09 Houston Aeros hockey season is just around the corner. The regular season schedule is coming out very soon and the players will converge for training camp before we know it. Besides roster spots, the Aeros are also looking to find National Anthem singers!

If you like to perform in front of large crowds and have your vocal cords heard this is your chance! If selected, you will have the opportunity to sing our nation’s song in a crowded Toyota Center prior to Houston Aeros home games. Aeros GM Tom Lynn, email your questions now

Houston Aeros general manager Tom Lynn will participate in an Aeros.com Q & A session this week. Anyone who would like to ask a question to Lynn can email questions to parmstrong@aeros.com. The deadline for questions is 5 p.m. Monday, July 28. Answers will be posted next week. Please include name and town. Not all questions will be able to be answered.

Lynn just finished his eighth year with the Minnesota Wild and sixth as Assistant General Manager/Hockey Operations. He also serves as the Aeros’ General Manager. Lynn was named Director of Hockey Administration and Legal Affairs on April 24, 2000, and held the position until being promoted to his current role on September 4, 2002. As Assistant General Manager/Hockey Operations, his responsibilities include assisting President/General Manager Doug Risebrough in the preparation and negotiation of player contracts and acting as the team’s liaison with the National Hockey League (NHL). Lynn also oversees the day-to-day work of the hockey operations department, and serves as counsel to the department. In addition, he has served as an adjunct professor of law at the St. Thomas University Law School in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Aeros name Courtney Eidman Vice President

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros President Tom Garrity today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has named Courtney Eidman to Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

Eidman, 32, recently completed her third season as the Executive Director of Houston Aeros Charities. In her new role, Eidman will continue to serve as Executive Director of Houston Aeros Charities while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of both, the marketing and communications departments.

Aeros looking for fans to submit photos

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) are seeking photographs from fans. Houston will be celebrating the Aeros’ 15th Anniversary this season, and as a result, fans are encouraged to send any pictures they have from the past 15 seasons.

Pictures should be sent to photos@aeros.com. In addition, fans can also send their pictures to the Aeros front office (1221 Lamar Street, Suite 1100, Houston, Texas 77010) with a return address and postage. The Aeros will scan the pictures and return them to the owner. By sending the photos, fans are granting the Aeros permission to use the photos in any and all publications.

Aeros and Star Skaters Partner for August 2 Event

HOUSTON, Texas - STARskaters.org and the Houston Aeros have partnered up for a family FUNraiser on Saturday, August 2 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The FUNraiser will be held at the Willowbrook Aerodrome, and will be a fun event for the family in support of a great cause. A raffle with great prizes will also be held immediately following the event.

Former Aeros’ player Steve Simoni and his band the Screaming Buffalo will hold a special concert at the Maple Leaf Pub also to benefit the upcoming STAR Skaters event. The concert is to be held on Saturday, July 26 at 8 p.m. The Maple Leaf Pub can be found at 514 Elgin Street. The Willowbrook Aerodrome is located at 8220 Willow Place Drive North, near 249 and FM 1960.

Minnesota Wild prospect camp to include ten Aeros, begins Tuesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced that the organization will hold a development camp for team prospects July 8-14 at Xcel Energy Center. Ten of the 27 players scheduled to attend camp spent time with the Wild’s primary affiliate, the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), during the 2007-08 season.

The seven-day camp will focus on the development of the organization’s top young prospects in both on-ice and off-ice settings. Minnesota Wild coaches Mario Tremblay, Mike Ramsey, Bob Mason and Matt Shaw along with Houston Aeros coaches Kevin Constantine, Luke Strand and Troy Ward will lead the on-ice sessions. The players will also participate in daily strength and conditioning education sessions and receive nutritional instruction.
