B-Sens Release Schedule Of Opponents For 2008-09 Season

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today their schedule of opponents for the 2008-09 American Hockey League season.

New to the B-Sens’ schedule this season are the two Texas teams, the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild) and the San Antonio Rampage (Phoenix Coyotes). The B-Sens will play each team twice (one home, one road), marking the first trip to the state of Texas for the franchise.

Binghamton’s East Division schedule remains unchanged from last season, with the club playing eight games (four home, four road) against the Albany River Rats (Carolina Hurricanes), Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders), Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals), Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning), Philadelphia Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins).

Bulldogs To Battle 20 Different Teams In 2008-2009

HAMILTON, Ontario - Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford announced today the hockey club’s schedule format for the 2008-2009 American Hockey League season.

For the first time in the 13-year history of the franchise, the Dogs will play 20 different opponents in 2008-2009. Of the 80 games on Hamilton’s regular season schedule, 50 are against North Division rivals. The Bulldogs will take on the Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs) twelve times, the Lake Erie Monsters (Colorado Avalanche), the Manitoba Moose (Vancouver Canucks), the Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers) and the Syracuse Crunch (Columbus Blue Jackets) eight times each and the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) six times.

Wolf Pack Announce 2008-09 Schedule Format

HARTFORD, June 27, 2008: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld today announced the schedule format that has been assigned to the team by the AHL for the 2008-09 season.

Once again in 2008-09, the Wolf Pack’s most familiar opponents will be their cross-border rivals the Springfield Falcons and their Nutmeg-State adversaries the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Pack will meet both the Falcons and Sound Tigers ten times each, five home and five away.

Phantoms Announce Schedule Format

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms and the American Hockey League today announced the league’s schedule format for the 2008-09 season. The Phantoms, embarking on their 13th season of competition in the AHL, will be challenged with a heavy intrastate schedule and will battle a total of 17 different teams.

The Phantoms will play an equal number of home and road games in each season series, with the majority finding an emphasis on divisional rivalries. In the case of the Phantoms, 54 games of the 80-game season will be played against East Division foes. The Phantoms will play a 12-game series against Hershey and a 10 game set with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Philadelphia will face off eight times each with Albany, Binghamton, Bridgeport and Norfolk.

Aeros release 2008-09 schedule of opponents

HOUSTON, Texas - The American Hockey League’s (AHL) schedule format was announced Friday, and the Houston Aeros, primary affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild, will play 20 opponents in the 2008-09 season. The 20 opponents marks the most in a single season in franchise history for Houston, up from 18 in 2007-08, and includes two “new” opponents.

The Aeros will again play in the AHL’s only eight-team division, the West Division. Houston plays Iowa (Anaheim), Peoria (St. Louis), Quad City (Calgary) and San Antonio (Phoenix) a total of eight times each (four home, four away) during the regular season. The Aeros will play Chicago (Atlanta), Milwaukee (Nashville) and Rockford (Chicago) a total of six times each (three home, three away) to round out the divisional lineup. A total of 50 of their 80 games, and 25 of their 40 home games, will be against the West Division.

American Hockey League Releases 2008-09 Schedule Format

(Rochester, NY)… The American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews and the league’s Board of Governors announced today the schedule format for the 2008-09 season.

Rochester (24-46-6-4, 58 points) finished the season at the bottom of the North Division, which was seven points behind the sixth-place Lake Erie Monsters (26-41-6-7, 65 points).

In 2008-09, the Amerks will remain in the seven-team Western Conference’s North Division. The division includes Rochester, Hamilton, Manitoba, Grand Rapids, Toronto, Lake Erie, and thruway rival, Syracuse. Fans will also have a chance to watch 18 of the league’s 29 teams at The Blue Cross Arena.

Marlies Announce 2008-09 Schedule Format

In conjunction with the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies announced today their 2008-09 regular season schedule format which sees the team welcome an opponent to Ricoh Coliseum for the first time. Toronto will play all three opponents they faced in the 2008 Calder Cup playoffs this upcoming season. The Syracuse Crunch - AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets - will play the Marlies eight times this season. The Marlies third round opponent from the 2008 playoffs, the Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves - AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers - and the Marlies first round opponent, the San Antonio Rampage - AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes - will meet two times (one home and one away) during the 2008-09 campaign.

AHL names 2007-08 winners of excellence awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews has announced the 2007-08 recipients of three awards for excellence and service to the league. The announcement came Thursday at the closing reception and awards dinner to conclude the league’s annual meeting of the Board of Governors at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Doug Yingst, president and general manager of the Hershey Bears, has been honored with the Thomas Ebright Award in recognition of career contributions to the AHL. Yingst has been with the Bears organization for 26 years, beginning as their sales and promotions director in 1982 and eventually being named GM in 1996 and team president in 1998. Hershey has been one of the league’s most successful franchises on and off the ice in recent years, winning the Calder Cup in 2006 and returning to the Finals in 2007, while also leading the league in attendance in each of the last two seasons. Yingst represents Hershey on the AHL Board of Governors and serves on the league’s executive committee.

AHL Announces IceHogs Opponents For 2008-09

Rockford, Ill.- The American Hockey League announced the 2008-09 schedule format for the Rockford IceHogs on Friday during the annual league meetings in Hilton Head, S.C. The ‘08-09 campaign will once again feature 80 regular season games, including 40 at home and 40 on the road.

The Divisional alignments will remain the same from the 2007-08 season, meaning the IceHogs will compete in the eight-team West Division. Rockford will play each opponent the same number of times on the road as at home.

Wolves Nip Albany’s Playoff Hopes 50-33

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Wolves broke a tie game by scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Albany Conquest 50-33 Friday night at Verizon Wireless Arena.

Albany won the coin toss and elected to kickoff first. Manchester made them pay as QB James Pinkney took the first offensive snap of the game and found WR Bradley Chavez wide open deep down the field for a 27-yard TD pass and a 7-0 lead. On Albany’s first possession, DE Larry McSwain sacked Albany QB Dan Cole, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Chavez and returned 20 yards for a touchdown and a 13-0 lead. The Conquest then escaped a fourth down situation as Cole went deep to WR Antwun Williams for a 42-yard TD pass and a 13-6 game after the first quarter.
